Blocks are back in

It's been a while since having time to go back to basics (albeit not so far back), but working on backdrops is where I'll be focusing my attention this month.

Getting loose and simply working with geometric shapes is quite simple but comes off as a type of meditation. Looking down at the board after 30 mins and having something like this happens a lot.

Backdrops

Time to kick it up another notch.

Artist Damon Soule has aways been an inspiration to me, making pieces look simple, but phenomenally intricate with beautiful backdrops. Stay tunes.

Sekaido - Get!

Much thanks to anyone showin support last month for the Sekaido comp, unbelievably I'm walking with a prize!

The exhibition will be held in Ueno, Tokyo Musashino art gallery September 9th to September 15th for anyone in the local area.

Kid Dynamite

Much love to Iron Mike. Working on an A1 piece seemed the only way to go about it.

Something that I'd realised whilst working on the last piece for the Sekaido competition was how lacking in experience I am when it comes to large scale pieces.. Making sure to have at least one large scale painting on the go from now on..

Just a "ruff" mockup (Lolol)

Always enjoy drawing animals, dogs especially. The past few months I've been working on base level perspective drawing and working to accurate sketch full figures.

More just around the corner.

Segments

As simple as it is, i've always wanted to do some work in panels. Living in Japan makes carry large pieces around a hassle. Having A4 boards means I'll be able to work away from home.

Segments too lends itself more to the pixelated, bitty, miss mash drawings I'm beginning to feel more comfortable with too.

Blowy

Been wanting to get this done for a while now, just can't find time to apply the darker tones.

A little out of perspective but really just trying to get back into paint mode after a 6 week break.
