Tetris - background expansion finish

Pretty happy with the outcome. Although a lot has to do with block composition, the mixture of tones and directions with the back strokes really does bring a new dynamic to the piece.

25.5cm x 36.4cm (B4) wood / acrylics

Blocks are back in

It's been a while since having time to go back to basics (albeit not so far back), but working on backdrops is where I'll be focusing my attention this month.

Getting loose and simply working with geometric shapes is quite simple but comes off as a type of meditation. Looking down at the board after 30 mins and having something like this happens a lot.

Tetris Fades

Found this guy half finished from last year, the perspective is way off but it'll give me a chance to try a couple of different shades and fades.

Throwback Mascot

Always great to do something around gaming. This piece for a small Tokyo based gaming community was a bunch of fun.

ThrowBack represents the Japan Arcade scene but also a throwback in the sense of retro culture so going with the Pacman type mascot seemed right.

Brainstorming ideas was a bunch of fun - still need to get a logo to them so that'll be next.

Back to Blocks

Pixels, blocks and cubes have been on the back burner way too long.

Kicked off on an a3 piece here to warm up.

Sonic - Stop Motion

2 weeks in and I've got 0.2 seconds down.. Loving getting hands on and doing my first animation but at the same time neglecting the paints.

It's going to be slow progress. Each piece costing a bunch of time (and money), mainly due to fingers getting glued to various things (and places).

Future pieces will have blocks used repetitively, but with this being my first, wanted to hang on to each frame for lighting experimentation.

Subsequently if anyone is looking for a frame of Sonic, hit me up!
