Tetris - color concepting

Carrying on with this weeks trials, tried using a few different brushstrokes alongside the colour variants. Overall it's become clear that in order for everything to fit together, composition is critical.

30cm x 45cm / wood / acrylics

Some interesting tones in there to think on.

Expansion one

Working on a larger scale is opening up space for more messing with tones and shapes. Moving away from A4 is definitely a step in the right direction.

Tetris drafts

This week is kinda heavy work wise - takin a few tubes of paint and piece of board with me is all I got.

Thinking that having a few blocks on the ground would be the best way to merge the real with the unreal.

Sekaido - day 2

Not a huge leap but getting that initial perspective is always rough.

Using a guideline would be much simpler but I'm not looking for geometrically accurate drawings (cos where's the fun in that?).

Working outwards should be plain sailing from here but I really gotto get those paints down.

Sekaido Sketching - Ideas

3d pixel deterioration. Just some preliminary ideas.

Deteriorating visuals like this should be easy, but I've been struggling a bit.

Undercomplication is where I'm at currently, knowing that complex isn't really my forte - looking to experiment a little more before going to board.

Tetris Fades

Found this guy half finished from last year, the perspective is way off but it'll give me a chance to try a couple of different shades and fades.

Tetris

Kinda got hunkered down with the Tetris type work last week.

Was wondering what the next step could be, applying a full set of blocks at the base really detracted from the light source.

Gotto learn to be more patient with these, the final part got a little sloppy.

Pixel Collision

If cubes become the focus for the next batch of work, light is going to play an integral role in bringing the piece to life.

A4 - Wood / Acrylics

Cubes themselves are simple to sketch, but ultimately boring without attention to lighting.

A4 - Wood / Acrylics
Harshly illuminating one area created some interesting ideas.

Pixels!

I've had pixels on the brain the past few weeks.

Not too bad for a first try, squares themselves don't lend themselves to interesting textures, but I've got a few ideas in mind for the next piece.
