Blobs progress

Not a huge leap so far. I'm always blown away at how long applying the layers takes! Even with a limited pallet.

I'm looking for something to plant in the foreground..

Blobs testing

"Planet Peel" had been left behind while I'd been perusing different avenues, finally coming full circle.

Doodling blobs for a year before I could muster the effort to break through my fear of paints left me with sketchbooks full of .. well .. Blobs.

I'd been meaning to come back for a while, this being the first shot.

Tetris Blocks - Experimenting

Some color combinations and experimenting.

Trying to improve my perspective work with some simple block / tetris themed patterns.

Although not perfect, the practice got me where I wanted - time to introduce pixels to the next pieces.

Sekaido work - week deadline

The previous canvas debacle left me with just 7 days to create a new piece in time for the exhibit. Recreating the same visual on a smaller canvas would've been much simpler but where's the fun in that.

Time restraints led to a limited pallet, meaning black would be taken out of the equation. Initially I wanted a more vibrant bubbly piece anyway since the last had been pretty morbid.

The yellow sky was a base layer to motivate a lighter mood whilst working, but eventually needed to be darkened to balance the shading on the plants.

Sekkaido entry .. or was..!

The past few weeks I'd been focused on the annual Sekkaido competition (which always seems to sneak up on me somehow).

Still about 12 hours from completion I was quite happy with the direction and colour coding, unfortunatly realised 2 weeks before the deadline that I'd been too ambitious and had been working on an F5 piece when it should've been an F4.

No biggie. It's pretty rare to get the chance to work on something that size, and it was a heck of a learning curve.

So back to the drawing board!

Sweeeet

Thinking of crossing the CandyLand concept in with the PlanetPeel... Or simply - I love Candy and this is a great opportunity to buy bundles for "reference".

CherryPop comes straight from "Adventure Time".

LolliPops are a simple way in. The shape is quite simple, but the folds in the wrapping will blend nicely with PlanetPeel ideas.

I really should press down harder, but the paper is almost transparent.

Plant Themes

Recent works in acrylics and watercolors. Previous work has been photo or still-life based, so it's about time to start diggin for something new. Nature inspires me a lot, so plants, trees, flowers and whatnot are going to play a big role in future works.

After watching Youtube videos on watercolors, was able to squeeze a little texture out of this one...
